A serious breeder accumulates a stack of paper for every dog they place — registration, OFA clearances, CHIC, DNA, titles. Today those papers are loose, photocopiable, and individually unverifiable. chainBreed binds them to a single scannable identity, etched by the authorities that already certify them.
Kennel club registration
AKC, UKC, CKC, FCI member-body registrations. Registration number, breed, sire, dam, and date of birth anchored on-chain alongside the issuing club's address.
OFA health evaluations
Hip, elbow, cardiac, thyroid, patella, and eye (CAER) clearances. Each evaluation links to the reporting veterinarian and the OFA database entry.
PennHIP and other orthopedic
PennHIP distraction index scores, BVA hip scores, and breed-specific orthopedic panels — recorded with the lab, the technician, and the date.
CHIC numbers
Canine Health Information Center numbers etched when a dog completes the breed-specific test panel. The CHIC etching is itself a chainBreed credential.
DNA parentage
Embark, Wisdom Panel, and AKC DNA Profile parentage verifications. Lab, marker count, and result hashed and timestamped.
Titles and working achievements
Conformation championships, obedience and rally titles, working tests (IGP, herding, hunt, agility, dock-diving). Etched by the sanctioning organization, verified by the buyer.

Stop puppy-mill paperwork fraud
Buyers paying $3,000–$8,000 for a Frenchie, Doodle, or working-line pup have no on-the-spot way to verify that the AKC papers in the folder are real. A chainBreed QR on the pup-pack lets them check the registration, the parents, and the OFA clearances before they hand over a cashier's check.

Canine credential fraud follows a small number of well-worn paths. Each one targets paperwork that a paper system cannot independently verify at the point of sale.
Most common at private sales of high-demand breeds. A real registration, copied and re-attached to a different litter.
An OFA evaluation from one dog presented as belonging to another. The result was real; the assignment wasn't.
Champion sire or dam claims that don't resolve to a verifiable credential. The seller's word is the only evidence.
