What chainBreed is
- What does chainBreed actually do?
- chainBreed takes a credential etched by a recognized breed authority — a registration, a health test, a Coggins, a DNA result — and anchors a cryptographic hash of it to the Polygon blockchain. Anyone can re-check the credential at any time, with any phone, with no account.
- Who etches the credentials?
- Recognized authorities only — breed registries, kennel clubs, racing commissions, brand inspectors, health-testing labs. chainBreed doesn't etch credentials itself; it makes the authorities' etching unforgeable.
- Which species does it cover?
- Canine, equine, and bovine at launch. The technology is species-agnostic; additional species are roadmap items, not architectural limits.
How verification works
- Do buyers need an account to verify?
- No. Verification is a public utility. Scan the QR with any phone camera; the verifier URL works in any browser and in our free iOS app.
- What happens if chainBreed goes out of business?
- Credentials remain verifiable. They live on Polygon, not on our servers. The BreedRegistry contract is permissionless to read; anyone can call it forever.
- Can a credential be revoked?
- Yes — only by the original issuer. The revocation is itself an on-chain record. The original credential remains visible alongside the revocation entry.
Technology
- Why Polygon?
- EVM-compatible, mature, and cheap. Etching gas runs a fraction of a cent, and chainBreed absorbs gas via the breedRelay wallet so issuers never touch POL.
- What goes on-chain?
- The credential hash, the issuer wallet address, species and credential type, the DNA flag, and the etch timestamp. The full payload stays in our backend.
- Do issuers need a crypto wallet?
- No. Issuers sign in with email. chainBreed's relay wallet handles every on-chain transaction.
Pricing and onboarding
- What does it cost?
- Six tiers from $49/month for hobby breed clubs to enterprise pricing for national registries. One-time credentials are $99.99 each without a subscription. Full pricing at chainbreed.pro/pricing.
- Is there a free trial?
- Yes. Every tier comes with a 30-day evaluation. No credit card required.
- How long does onboarding take?
- From signed agreement to first etched credential, typically two business days for Hobbyist–Professional tiers, two to six weeks for Business and Enterprise with custom integrations.
